Thank you to Westerly Lins Club for their $250 donation. I have a few events scheduled for the up coming cycling season and am looking forward to making an impact on our children and parents.
Here is a few pictures from State Street Healthy Kids day in March 2010. 35 helmets donated, parents were educated and children inspired.
On October 10, 2008, I had an accident with my bike. I am here today because I had my helmet on. That moment in time changed my life. During my recovery, I started an organization called HABS. I partner shipped up with the community, and together collected and donated over 500 helmets (and still counting) to children in the community. I worked with the school systems and educated thousands of children, parents and grandparents. I have coordinated and been a part of many safety fairs where helmets have been made available to children and families that can not necessarily afford them.
I have a story to share with everyone that will listen. I am a survivor! I was given a second chance at life! I will make a difference. TOGETHER we can make a difference.
Be safe.. Be aware.. Wear a HELMET..
Be Well...
